Jackie S. Kim, PhD, CCC-SLP

Jackie is a postdoctoral research fellow and medical speech-language pathologist in the Brain Modulation Laboratory. She received her PhD in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Boston University, MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Columbia University, and BA in Linguistics from the University of Southern California. Her work focuses on uncovering the neural computations underlying speech motor control and understanding how these mechanisms are disrupted in neurological disorders. Currently, Jackie is investigating the effects of deep brain stimulation on speech in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, combining acoustic, behavioral, and neural data with machine learning to identify clinical biomarkers for personalized treatment. She is also analyzing intracranial electroencephalography recordings from epilepsy patients during motor speech sequence learning tasks. .
