Mira Hasner MD
Mira is a neurosurgery PhD candidate at Leiden University, currently conducting research at the Brain Modulation Lab (Mass General Brigham). She received her MD from Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands and is particularly interested in pediatric neurosurgery. Supported by the KNAW Ter Meulen grant and Jadefonds, her research focuses on thalamic neuromodulation for drug resistant epilepsy in children. She applies Bayesian models to identify predictors of treatment response and optimize patient-specific stimulation paradigms in a multicenter cohort. Her research integrates clinical markers, anatomical localization, chronic intracranial EEG, and responsive stimulation parameters to guide personalized therapy in children and adults. In parallel, she investigates regulatory and ethical barriers to pediatric device development. Mira's interdisciplinary work aims to advance both the effectiveness and equitable accessibility of neuromodulatory treatments in vulnerable patient populations.
