Brain Modulation Lab welcomes PhD student Yanming Zhu

This week, we welcomed Yanming Zhu as an official member of the Brain Modulation Lab. He will begin working on his dissertation during his time at BML. Last year, Yanming completed a rotation in the Brain Modulation Lab. During this rotation, Yanming generated fruitful results in the STN encoding of pitch production. He then completed another rotation at Professor Jia Liu's lab at Harvard. Starting this fall, Yanming will continue working with brain recordings from our triplet task to explore other features of STN contribution to speech. We are excited to have Yanming in the lab for the reminder of his PhD, where he will continue uncovering the neural systems involved in speech production. More specifically, how these neural systems can go awry in movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.
