Latané Bullock attends the CSHL Genetics & Neurobiology of Language course

Latané Bullock, a PhD candidate in the Harvard Program in Speech, Hearing, and Bioscience Technology, attended the Genetics & Neurobiology of Language course at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Banbury Conference Center from July 27 to August 3. Now in its sixth iteration, the week-long course is led by Simon Fisher, David Poeppel, and Kate Watkins, and brings a small group of participants together with invited speakers for talks, keynotes, interactive sessions, and debates on the neurobiological basis of speech and language. The material spans development, cognitive models, neural computation, gene identification, functional genomics, model systems, and comparative and evolutionary work. That breadth is useful to the lab’s studies of speech production, which depend on connecting intracranial recordings from single neurons and local field potentials to cognitive models of how language is planned and produced.
