SetPoint VNS for Rheumatoid Arthritis
Vagus nerve stimulation for rheumatoid arthritis.
SetPoint is an implanted vagus nerve stimulator for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The FDA approved it in July 2025 for adults with moderately to severely active RA who have had an inadequate response, loss of response, or intolerance to one or more biologic or targeted synthetic DMARDs. The device delivers one minute of stimulation each day and is recharged for a few minutes once a week.
Dr. Pranav Nanda and Dr. Mark Richardson perform the implant procedure. Dr. Richardson was the national surgical principal investigator for RESET-RA, the randomized pivotal trial of 242 implanted patients that led to approval.
